The 1U Dual Cell-Based System 2 is a flexible solution based on the Cell Broadband Engine™ (BE) processor. This solution significantly improves performance for computationally intensive high-performance computing (HPC) applications in medical imaging, industrial inspection, aerospace and defense, seismic processing, telecommunications, and other industries. Performance scales dramatically when the application is distributed across multiple 1U Dual Cell-Based Systems 2 in a cluster or across the network.

The 1U Dual Cell-Based System 2 has two Cell BE processors. For the first time, the power of dual Cell BE processors can be unleashed for applications that demand a low acoustic signature along with the added density of the 1U form factor.  Mercury has mapped key signal processing algorithms onto the system, significantly increasing the performance advantages for HPC applications.
