The 1U Dual Cell-Based System 3 is a flexible solution based on the PowerXCell™ 8i processor. This solution significantly improves performance for computationally intensive high-performance computing (HPC) applications in medical imaging, industrial inspection, aerospace and defense, seismic processing, telecommunications, and other industries. Performance scales dramatically when the application is distributed across multiple 1U Dual Cell-Based Systems 3 in a cluster or across the network.
The system has five times the double-precision floating-point performance and a 20% reduction in power consumption when compared to the 1U Dual Cell-Based System 2. It also provides up to 32 GB of processor-attached memory and an optional 8-GB flash module for local boot capabilities.
