CHELMSFORD, Mass. and FUERTH, Germany, March 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) will showcase its entire Visage™ product family with integrated clinical applications, at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna, Austria, March 9 to 13.
Mercury's revolutionary 3D to the Core platform empowers the transformation of the medical imaging workflow, from acquisition, reconstruction, and visualization, to distribution and management. Mercury will demonstrate image quality and performance breakthroughs now required to cope with the increasing amount of data generated from modern 3D modalities; as well as enhanced 3D capabilities, including a Cardiac Analysis Option, which, at the click of a mouse, enables clinicians to access advanced functionalities such as coronary artery analysis within the workflow of the image distribution system.
"Clinical applications such as cardiac CT and CT/PET require more powerful image management and visualization systems," said Keith Dreyer, M.D., Ph.D., and Vice-Chairman of Radiology - Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Harvard Medical School. "Mercury is developing leading-edge medical imaging solutions that are capable of processing and managing the ever-increasing amounts of 2D, 3D, and even 4D data, thus optimizing image quality and the diagnostic workflow."
Mercury's advanced Visage CS Thin Client/Server solution now comprises integrated 3D functionalities including a Cardiac Analysis Option, featuring quantitative and visual analysis of cardiac dynamics using 4D multi-slice CT data to assess functional parameters, as well as coronary artery analysis. All functional key parameters can be assessed directly within the PACS workflow, thus optimizing the efficiency and performance of the cardiac analysis.
The new release of Visage PACS, Mercury's web-based, scalable, enterprise- grade image management system, will include compelling new features that enable flexible arrangement of multiple viewers, powerful new options for side-by-side comparison, as well as hanging protocols.
At ECR, Mercury will also demonstrate 100X accelerated Spiral CT reconstruction with the Mercury Cell Accelerator Board (CAB), its latest Cell Broadband Engine™ (BE) processor -based product offering. "In cooperation with Mercury, we are designing and implementing optimized algorithms for the 2D and 3D image reconstruction with real-time performance on the Cell BE platform, thus enhancing image quality, while keeping the X-ray exposure of the patient as low as possible," explained Professor Dr. Marc Kachelriess, expert for medical imaging at the Institute of Medical Physics, Erlangen.
"Mercury is cooperating with leading clinical partners and institutes to deliver to our customers first-class expertise and solutions that are tested in clinical trials," said Marcelo Lima, Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Imaging and Visualization at Mercury. "We look forward to showing our partners the latest advances in technology, solutions, and services that enable them to get advanced image processing and visualization products to market sooner and more cost effectively."
