Mercury Computer Systems Elects New Director

Vincent Vitto Joins Mercury's Board

CHELMSFORD, Mass., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced today that its board of directors has elected Vincent Vitto to the board. With the addition of Mr. Vitto, Mercury Computer Systems' board now has nine members.

"Vince brings a deep background in aerospace and defense, including radar imaging, satellite communications, and air traffic control, to Mercury's board," said Jay Bertelli, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. "We are pleased to welcome Vince and believe he will be a great addition to the company.

Mr. Vitto recently retired after serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Inc. since 1997. Prior to that, he spent 32 years of increasing responsibility at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, rising to Assistant Director for Surface Surveillance and Communications.

Mr. Vitto serves as Vice Chairman of the Defense Science Board. His current and past participation in professional associations includes Member of the Naval Studies Board for the National Research Council; Vice Chair and Chairman of the Space Panel NSB; Member of the Homeland Security Science and Technology Advisory Committee; and Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Mr. Vitto received honors from both the Department of Navy and Air Force for public service in 1992, 1998, and 2004.

Mr. Vitto received his B.S. in Physics at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and his M.S. in Physics at Northeastern University.
