Mercury’s powerful multicomputers provide the signal processing for most large airborne radar systems, including JSTARS,
Global Hawk
,
E2-C
,
Wedgetail
, ASTOR, and the
U-2.
Many of these platforms use our rugged 6U VME solutions, while others have implemented rugged 9U VME systems. Some of the more recent programs have chosen the PowerStream® 7000, delivering over 1 TFLOPS of total processing power in an air-cooled, deployable chassis. Based on the RapidIO® switch fabric, the PowerStream 7000 offers extreme high-end performance while maximizing processing density (GFLOPS/cubic foot).
All these large airborne radar processing systems are COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solutions. System performance is optimized by Mercury software, offering a rich cross section of algorithm and data movement libraries, advanced development tools, operating systems, and system diagnostics.
These flexible systems are used to support all the radar processing modes employed by large airborne platforms, including synthetic aperture radar (SAR), airborne moving target indicator (AMTI), and ground moving target indicator (GMTI).
