Responsibilities: Responsibilities:This position will challenge the engineering student to develop diagnostic software using the C programming language and some assembly language. The process involves using product hardware specifications and schematics to identify, design and implement the necessary diagnostic test strategies for hardware design verification, manufacturing functional verification and power-on self-tests. This position requires excellent communication and inter-personal skills to facilitate close cross-functional working relationships with hardware designers, manufacturing test engineers, software engineers and mechanical engineers. The successful candidate will work closely with the hardware designers while developing the diagnostic solution as well as during product design verification testing. In addition, the candidate will work in conjunction with manufacturing test engineers to ensure the diagnostic solution is designed correctly for production testing and to help integrate it into the overall manufacturing test process. Other engineering functions may also rely on these diagnostic solutions such as mechanical engineering for thermal/vibration stress testing and software engineering for power-on self-testing.
In addition to providing an opportunity to learn fundamental diagnostic theory, this position also enables a student to experience very low-level software development while staying close to the hardware design through hands-on lab work supporting initial module bring-up and design verification.
